From the dailykos (about as left as you can go), this statement based on his various claims of how he MIGHT pay for his "healthcare of all".
- Creating a 4 percent income-based premium paid by employees, exempting the first $29,000 in income for a family of four
- Imposing a 7.5 percent income-based premium paid by employers, exempting the first $2 million in payroll
The following is from the Philadelphia Enquirer, which AllSides rates as "leans left".
So raise OADSI to 12.4 + 2.9 medicare + 11.5 M4A + a 17.2 base rate in that income level and I get a 44.3 rate for people around 28K income level.
The employer has to match the OADSI / medicare ... which is an added cost of employment, just like corporate taxes, this is a COST which MUST be passed on since the employer or the corporation must show a profit / return on investment, or they are not going to stay in business add another 15.3% giving 59.6%
Then you would need to add state taxes, sales taxes, etc which would conservatively be "10%"
So the real Bernie tax would be about 70% rather than the 52% the "Fact Checker" claims -- "Fact Checkers" are just another example of Fake News.`
Thus, we have GIGANTIC work discouragement which means more people sitting at home, getting depressed and way too often committing suicide.
Naturally Bernie is going to be very hard to pin down here -- he can't admit to proposing a 70% rate on people making $30K and have ANY hope of getting elected. We know Bernie's agenda ... he wants a socialist state ala Venezuela or the USSR -- and increasingly, Americans are too poorly educated (in fact, indoctrinated) to understand what that means.
Read Solzhenitsyn! He lived it!
